Essay 2

Alexander Lopez

ENGL 110

When reading about the two car companies Tesla and Ford  I have come to the opinion that the author is right when he talks about how Ford is a better and more reliable company when it comes to making electric cars. For one towards the beginning paragraphs, the author would speak to Tesla employees and ask them certain questions but the employees would not respond to the question the author made because they were scared that they might say the wrong thing. If an employee can’t answer a question about the product the company sells due to the fear that they may say something wrong, that is already a red flag because what can Tesla possibly be trying to hide that the employees don’t want to answer questions asked about the product such as how much horsepower this certain model has. Continuing with this point the author made a statement about one of the cars which is the model 3 by saying, “Well, I read that this car has 271 horsepower,” and the employee responded with “I wouldn’t disagree with that.” Like the author said this is not how a healthy functional company would answer simple factual questions. Leaving the car realm aside, when it comes to working within the company for Tesla employees must log 40 hours per week in an office, and if you wanted to work online that is definitely not an option that Tesla will give its employees possibly ever. Meanwhile Ford does have work from home for white collar employees, which is a nice option because office workers pretty much just use a computer all day so they can work from home too. But of course not every employee can work from home as the author stated, you can’t exactly build a Ford F-150 from home, but at least Ford tries to give their employees some flexibility to as many people as possible
